this is the runic letter for horses ->

Horses are herd animals and can become very to attached to each other and us. They communicate in various ways, such as nickering, grooming, and body language. Some horses will become flighty, and hard to manage if they are away from their herd. This is called being "herd-bound."'

Ponies, donkeys and zebras are part of the horse family. the latter can be cross bred with the horse to produce a zorse or a zebroid. a zebra can be cross bred with a shetland pony to produce a zetland.

horses height is measured in hands which are 4 inches long. if a horse is less than 14.2 hands tall then it is a pony

a horse was appointed a senator in rome by emperor caligula who ruled between 37 - 41 before being assinated by his guards. it was his favourite horse and was called incitatus. It had 17 servants and would 'invite' dignitaries to dine with him. Incitatus had a girlfriend called penelope. [wiki]

French eat horsemeat as a result of the 1870-1 war with germany when parisians were besieged and forced to slaughter 70 000 horses or face starvation. They grew to like it. Elsewhere it is abhorred as a pagan practice, and prohibited in an edict dating back to AD&32 under pope Gregory III. Would you eat a horse?

All modern thoroughbreds can be traced back to just three individual horses. The Darley Arabian, (95% of modern thoroughbred racehorses, through the Y-chromosome, can be traced back to this single stallion) Godolphin Arabian, and Byerly Turk. These are the stallions from whom all thoroughbreds are descended.

Rocinante is the name of Don Quixote's horse, in the novel Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra

All horses are hot blooded, but these terms mean different things in horseland.
Hot-bloods: included Arabian horses, and ones bred on the euro peninsula. Called hot bloods because of their temperament: characterized by sensitivity, keen awareness, athleticism, and energy. True hot bloods usually offer greater riding challenges and rewards than other horses. Their sensitivity and intelligence enable quick learning, and greater communication and cooperation with their riders. However, they sometimes decide that a new flowerpot is really a dragon, and the rider must spend the next five minutes calming them down
Cold bloods: muscular and heavy draft horses. Work horses and carriage horses. Calm and trusting, hence easy to harness things to.
Also exist warm blood cross, used in war.
are you a cold blood or a hot blood?

this is 'clever hans', a german horse who could provide the answers to mathematical equations by tap tap tapping out the right number. It was later revealed that Hans was actually reading subtle body cues that indicated when he should stop tapping rather than cognitating (that is now a word) the right answer; still an achievement though as he was able to do this with his trainers and strangers alike. This is known as the 'hans effect' in animal experimental psychology.

A rider's equitation is her/his ability to ride correctly with a strong, supple position and effective aids. This is judged in equitation classes, or classes at horse shows that mainly judge the rider's performance and control of their horse, as opposed to the performance of the horse.
